Asunción municipal labor contract faces calls for postponement

Deputy Daniel Centurión has called for the postponement of the 2026 Collective Labor Agreement (CCCT) for the Municipality of Asunción. He argued that the agreement should be reviewed by the administration that takes office following the municipal elections on October 4.

Centurión described the municipality's financial state as being in “intensive care,” claiming it is both financially and morally destroyed. He expressed concern that the current push for the contract might be driven by electoral interests, suggesting that the new administration must first conduct a thorough audit of municipal finances and accounts. He emphasized that any detected irregularities should be referred to the Public Ministry to ensure accountability.
