Asunción storm damage strains construction material market

Severe storms and heavy hail in Asunción and its metropolitan area have placed significant pressure on the local construction materials market. The sudden need for home and business repairs has caused an unusual surge in orders for roof tiles, leading to temporary stock shortages at several warehouses and fluctuations in prices.

The Paraguayan Chamber of the Ceramic Industry stated that while factories have the capacity to meet the demand, the physical constraints of the production process—including molding, drying, and firing—prevent an immediate increase in available inventory. Supply is expected to normalize within five to seven days as the industry works to bridge the temporary gap between supply and demand.
