ASUS and Backbone release translucent gaming hardware

ASUS and Backbone have announced new gaming hardware featuring translucent designs to celebrate industry anniversaries.

ASUS has opened pre-orders for the ROG Xbox Ally X20, a handheld gaming device priced at $1,299. To mark 20 years of the Republic of Gamers brand, the device features a translucent black shell with gold-accented internals. While the internal hardware remains similar to previous models, utilizing the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, the X20 introduces a 7.4-inch Nebula HDR OLED display. It also features upgraded TMR thumbsticks and a redesigned D-pad. A premium bundle priced at $2,499.99 is also available, which includes ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses and various accessories.

In a separate release, Backbone has introduced an Xbox 25th Anniversary Edition of its Pro controller for iPhone. The controller features three translucent shell options inspired by the original Xbox Controller S colorways: Crystal Clear, Iconic Blue, and Bold Orange. The design utilizes transparent or frosted plastics to reveal internal components while maintaining solid black surfaces for high-contact areas like thumbsticks, buttons, and triggers.
