Asus laptop battery life and hardware reliability reports

Reports regarding Asus laptops highlight varying experiences with hardware longevity and battery life claims. One user reported issues with an Asus Zenbook Pro UX550VD, noting that after four years of use, the internal SSD failed, triggering a S.M.A.R.T. alert. The user noted that while the device was repairable by replacing the Micron SSD with a Samsung model, the experience was disappointing for a premium product.

In a separate development, Asus is marketing the Snapdragon-powered Zenbook 14 UX3480QA with claims of over 30 hours of battery life. However, technical specifications indicate this figure applies specifically to offline video playback under controlled conditions, such as low brightness and disconnected Wi-Fi. For standard web browsing, the company claims up to 18 hours, while independent testing suggests typical office use may yield between 8 and 10 hours of battery life.
