ASUS and NVIDIA launch RTX Spark hardware for local AI

ASUS and NVIDIA, in collaboration with Microsoft, have introduced a new category of hardware designed for local, agentic AI workloads through the RTX Spark platform. This ecosystem enables users to run large language models, complex 3D scenes, and AI agents directly on their devices without constant reliance on cloud services, enhancing privacy and reducing token-based costs.

ASUS has launched several products under this architecture, including the ProArt P14 and P16 laptops, as well as the ProArt GR1X mini PC. These devices utilize NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPUs and Grace CPUs, featuring high-bandwidth unified memory of up to 128GB. The GR1X mini PC is specifically noted for its ability to handle intensive AI tasks while also targeting gamers, with claims of achieving over 100 FPS in AAA titles at 1440p resolution.

Microsoft is integrating the RTX Spark platform into the Windows 11 ecosystem, introducing ‘Builder PCs’ that support local AI agents through enhanced sandboxing features. This strategic alignment between Microsoft, NVIDIA, and hardware partners like ASUS and MSI aims to shift the PC market from consumer-focused features toward high-value, professional-grade local AI workstations.
