ASUS launches TUF Gaming Platinum power supplies with GaN technology

ASUS has announced the availability of its new TUF Gaming Platinum power supply series, designed for high-end gaming PCs and intensive workloads. The lineup includes three wattage options: 850W, 1000W, and 1200W.

A key feature of this series is the integration of Gallium Nitride (GaN) transistors in the MOSFETs, replacing traditional silicon components. According to ASUS, this technology allows for faster switching and more efficient electrical conduction, potentially improving energy efficiency by up to 30% compared to silicon-based MOSFETs. This shift also reduces heat dissipation, allowing for more compact internal components and better airflow within the unit.

The new power supplies are 80 Plus Platinum certified, feature fully modular cabling, and support the ATX 3.1 standard, including compatibility with PCIe 5.1 graphics cards via an included 16-pin cable. The suggested starting price is €149.90, and all models come with an eight-year warranty.
