ASVEL Villeurbanne budget cut to 24 million euros

ASVEL Villeurbanne has undergone significant financial restructuring ahead of the new season, with the club's budget dropping from an initial 59 million euros to 24 million euros. This reduction has led to the departure of several key players, including Sylvain Francisco, Daniel Theis, Nick Wheeler-Bamb, and Armoni Brooks.

To protect his coaching staff during this period of austerity, Tony Parker has reduced his own salary by 80%. Originally slated to receive 1.2 million euros, Parker will now receive 240,000 euros. Parker stated to Equipe that it was important for his entire team to remain together and that they should not suffer due to the recent financial changes.

Despite the budget constraints, the club has finalized a new roster. Notable additions include Australian guard Patty Mills, Tremont Waters, Tai'e Washington, Hugo Benitez, and former NBA player Jae Crowder. Other players such as Miles Kyle, Nate Sestina, and Yves Pons are also part of the squad.
