Aswan launches green initiatives and sewage infrastructure upgrades

Aswan Governor Amr Lashin has announced several initiatives aimed at improving the infrastructure and environmental quality of the Aswan Governorate in Egypt.

As part of the ‘Aswan is more beautiful with its youth’ initiative, which aligns with the presidential goal of planting 100 million trees, the governorate has planted approximately 30,000 trees in recent months. This effort focuses on increasing green spaces in squares, streets, and residential areas to reduce pollution and improve the urban landscape. The project includes shade trees and is being expanded across various centers and cities within the governorate.

Simultaneously, an urgent plan is underway to clean and maintain sewage networks in Edfu. In coordination with the Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, an executive plan has been implemented to clear ‘hot spots’ in sewage lines across several villages and urban areas. This maintenance work, scheduled to run through early October, aims to improve service efficiency and alleviate issues faced by residents in high-need areas.
