Aswan University Hospital Fire Controlled, No Injuries Reported
A limited fire broke out on the ground floor of the administrative building of Aswan University’s hospitals after an electrical short in an air‑conditioning unit, according to a university statement. Civil protection forces responded quickly, extinguished the blaze and restored electricity. Nine pediatric patients were evacuated as a precaution and later returned to their wards; no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
University officials, including Acting Vice‑President Dr Loei Saad‑Eldin Nasser, said the emergency plan and coordination with security and civil protection ensured a swift containment. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdel Aziz Qansuwa called to check on patients, and Aswan security director Brigadier Abdullah Jalal oversaw the site. The governor highlighted the incident while reviewing other local development projects, noting the hospital continued providing normal medical services throughout.
The incident underscores ongoing safety inspections and emergency preparedness at the university’s medical facilities.
