ASX lithium shares rally on improved producer sentiment
Lithium-related shares on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) have recently experienced a rally, driven by improved sentiment and operational updates from key producers.
Liontown Resources Ltd led the sector's performance following a presentation at the Diggers and Dealers conference. The company reported a 19.3% quarter-on-quarter increase in sales revenue to $235 million for the June quarter, supported by sales of 108,489 dry metric tonnes of spodumene concentrate.
Pilbara Minerals Ltd, which operates the Pilgangoora hard-rock lithium mine, has seen its share price rise by 9.3% since the start of 2025. The company serves global markets through offtake agreements with partners such as Great Wall and POSCO.
Mineral Resources Ltd has also seen positive momentum, receiving a buy rating from Morgans after meeting or exceeding FY26 guidance across its segments. The company's diversified model, which includes a mining services division, provides a buffer against fluctuations in spodumene prices.
Despite the recent recovery, the sector remains sensitive to global market conditions. Lithium carbonate prices in China reached a six-month low in August, reflecting the ongoing volatility in the commodities market.
