Asylon Robotics receives US Air Force contract for aircraft inspection system
Asylon Robotics, a developer based in Norristown, Pennsylvania, has received a Phase-III contract from the US Air Force through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The contract focuses on the advancement of the MARIA (Multi-modal Autonomous Robotics for Inspection of Aircraft) system.
The MARIA system is designed to automate or supplement manual safety and maintenance inspections of military aircraft. It utilizes a combination of high-resolution optical imaging, LiDAR sensors, and digital twin technology to create repeatable and measurable inspection cycles. This automation aims to reduce technical risks for personnel and accelerate the readiness of aircraft for deployment.
In addition to the government contract, Asylon Robotics has secured venture capital support from Bosch Ventures. This investment is intended to expand the company's capacity to bring automated inspection processes and drone-based safety solutions to operational readiness more quickly.
