ATÜ students win TEKNOFEST award for original underwater rocket design

Students from Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University (ATÜ) have won the ‘Most Original Design’ award at the TEKNOFEST Mavi Vatan Underwater Rocket Competition. The 12-member team, known as BELUGA FoF, developed a pressure-resistant underwater rocket named ‘SEDASEF’ using entirely domestic software.

The design incorporates biomimicry, specifically drawing inspiration from the tubercles found on whale fins to enhance hydrodynamic efficiency in the rocket's fins. Additionally, the team utilized a toroidal propeller structure to mitigate the negative effects of water. Following their success at the competition held at the Gölcük Shipyard Command under the direction of ROKETSAN, the students expressed their intention to compete in international competitions to further their engineering experience.
