At The Gates releases animated film for ‘The Ghost of a Future Dead’

Swedish melodic death metal band At The Gates has released an animated film to accompany their album, ‘The Ghost of a Future Dead’. The project serves as a visual tribute to the band’s longtime vocalist, Tomas Lindberg, who passed away in September 2025.

The film was created by longtime collaborator Costin Chioreanu, who managed the painting, filming, editing, and production. Chioreanu described the work as a ‘monument’ to Lindberg, designed to create a visual narrative that complements the album’s lyrics and music rather than providing literal illustrations.

The album was released in April 2026 through Century Media Records. It features recordings made prior to Lindberg’s death, following his diagnosis of cancer in 2023. The production and mixing were led by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios.
