Atac increases inspections and fine revenue in Rome
In Rome, the public transport agency Atac has increased inspections on buses, trams, and subways throughout the first quarter of 2026. Data indicates that over 927,000 passengers were checked, representing a 4% year-on-year increase.
This heightened enforcement resulted in 45,219 sanctions issued during the first three months, an increase of 2% compared to the same period in 2025. Revenue from these penalties reached nearly 1.8 million euros, an 11% increase over the previous year. To streamline the process, Atac has integrated digital payment tools such as PagoPA and POS devices to facilitate immediate fine payments.
