Atacama opens call for 2026 Regional Art and Culture Awards
The Atacama Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Cultures, Arts and Heritage has opened the call for applications for the 2026 Atacama Regional Awards for Art, Culture, and Heritage. Applications are open from September 24 to October 24 at 17:00 hours.
The 2026 edition introduces a new recognition format, moving away from applications organized by commune to a system based on nine specific categories. This change aims to highlight diverse artistic expressions and contributions to regional identity, citizen participation, and cultural decentralization.
The nine categories are: Visual Arts; Music; Performing Arts; Historical Heritage Rescue, Research, and/or Diffusion; Regional Emerging Art; Traditional and/or Popular Culture; Literary Creation; Cultural Management with a rights-based approach; and Artistic and Heritage Education. Within the Traditional and/or Popular Culture category, subcategories include Popular Art, Indigenous Peoples, Craftsmanship, and Gastronomy, from which a single award will be granted.
