Atakan Çelik wins international journalism award in London

Atakan Çelik has received the International Peace Journalism and Excellence in Media Award at the International Humanitarian Peace Award 2026 held in London. The award recognizes his book, ‘Yüzyılın Tanığı: Anadolu Ajansı’nın Asırlık Öyküsü’ (Witness of the Century: The Century-Old Story of Anadolu Agency).

The book examines significant historical turning points of the last century through the lens of journalistic testimony, covering topics from the Turkish War of Independence to Bosnia, Gaza, and modern discussions regarding disinformation and artificial intelligence. The international jury honored the work for its contributions to truth-oriented journalism, the preservation of historical memory, and peace journalism.

Çelik, who has worked at Anadolu Agency for twenty-five years, dedicated the award to the memory of journalists who lost their lives while reporting the truth in Gaza. He stated that the international recognition of the work increases his sense of responsibility and provides courage for future endeavors.
