Atakan Yılmaz called up to Mexico U-16 national team

The Mexican U-16 national football team has called up Atakan David Yılmaz Zepeta, a 16-year-old forward currently playing in the youth ranks of Germany's FC St. Pauli. Born in Xalapa, Veracruz, Yılmaz holds dual Mexican and Turkish nationality through his mother and father.

Yılmaz has previous international experience with the Turkish U-15 squad, having started as the number 10 in a friendly match against England in February 2025. Because these appearances occurred in youth categories, he remains eligible to represent Mexico under FIFA regulations. He is currently contracted with FC St. Pauli until June 2028.
