Atalanta launches Argo AI tool to protect critical cyber infrastructure

Cybersecurity firm Atalanta has launched Argo, an AI-assisted tool designed to protect critical infrastructure from cyberattacks. The product utilizes a method called ‘software understanding,’ which integrates complex mathematics with artificial intelligence to analyze internet-connected systems and software for vulnerabilities.

The technology was previously used to help secure Viasat’s satellite communications network following a Russian hacking attack in 2022 that disabled thousands of modems. Atalanta CEO Anjana Rajan noted that traditional security tools are insufficient for modern needs, emphasizing that software understanding is essential for building resilient systems of consequence.

Industry experts suggest the tool provides new defensive capabilities in the evolving landscape of cyberwarfare, particularly as threats from actors like Russia and Iran target critical infrastructure such as water and wastewater systems.
