Atatürk University hosts international symposium on family protection
The international symposium titled ‘Protecting Family and Lineage Against Modern Attacks’ has concluded at Atatürk University in Erzurum, Turkey. The event, organized in partnership with the Istanbul-based Islamic Scholars Foundation and the Qatar-based World Muslim Scholars Union, resulted in a 14-point declaration.
The declaration calls for measures to prevent declining population growth rates, support marriages among young people, and raise awareness among families regarding digital threats. It also proposes the establishment of Family Institutes within universities.
Scholars and intellectuals from Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, Palestine, Algeria, Syria, Morocco, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom participated in the seven-session symposium. The discussions addressed the scientific, social, cultural, moral, and legal dimensions of the threats facing the family unit, including the impact of digitalization and global cultural transformations on family structures.
