ATE introduces Imagine Monitor 180 streaming speakers

Audio developer ATE, led by Norman Gerkinsmeyer, has introduced the ATE Imagine Monitor 180, a partially active streaming speaker set. The system includes a DAC, streaming capabilities, and room adaptation features, with an optional passive subwoofer module known as the Sub. The set is priced at 17,900 euros.

The technology centers on Gerkinsmeyer’s Ring Mode Drive (RMD) transducer. Originally developed through his work as an OEM supplier for the automotive and aerospace industries, this driver technology utilizes an unconventional oval or racetrack shape with a ring-shaped foam damper. The RMD driver aims to cover eight octaves, ranging from 180 Hz to 30 kHz, while maintaining wide dispersion in the high frequencies.
