Argentina: Airport protests and bank closures scheduled for November

Argentina faces significant service disruptions in November due to labor actions and religious observances. The Association of State Workers (ATE) has announced a task retention strike for Friday, November 6, affecting 27 airports nationwide. The union is protesting alleged underfunding of the civil aviation system and safety failures, including a lack of functional ambulances and firefighting equipment. ATE plans to implement a “Japanese-style strike” at Ezeiza and Aeroparque airports, involving extreme inspections that could cause delays and cancellations. Only sanitary, humanitarian, organ transplant, and official flights will be guaranteed.

Separately, banks across Argentina will be closed for five consecutive days from Friday, November 6, to Tuesday, November 10. This closure results from the combination of Bank Workers' Day, the weekend, a national holiday for the visit of Pope Leo XIV on Monday, November 9, and a banking holiday established by the Central Bank for Tuesday, November 10. While physical branches will be closed, digital channels and ATMs will remain operational.
