ATE union rejects 4% salary increase in Concordia
Labor representatives from ATE have criticized a 4% salary increase in Concordia, Argentina, arguing it fails to address the economic impact of recent devaluations. Union leader Selva stated that a 35% increase is necessary to lift wages above the poverty line and noted that current inflation figures do not accurately reflect the rising costs of utilities and fuel.
Selva also raised concerns regarding labor precarity, citing the dismissal of contracted workers and the hiring of retired police personnel and cooperatives as evidence of worsening conditions. Additionally, the union criticized municipal spending, specifically a $225.4 million tender for paving stones, which occurred shortly after the municipality announced the launch of its own paving stone plant.
