Atenea Gómez takes temporary leave from Isla Mujeres mayoralty

Atenea Gómez Ricalde, the municipal president of Isla Mujeres, has requested a temporary leave of absence from her position to participate in an internal Morena party process. She is seeking the Federal District Coordination for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty for District 03 in Quintana Roo, as part of the party's territorial organization leading toward 2027.

During her absence, the City Council has authorized First Councilwoman Isla del Mar Magaña López to serve as the acting head of the municipal presidency. Magaña López will oversee the continuity of government programs, public works, and municipal services to ensure institutional stability and uninterrupted service to the population.
