Ateneo BUILD launches free AI training for Filipino students
Ateneo de Manila University Business Insights Laboratory for Development (Ateneo BUILD) has opened the national selection for the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence Philippines (IOAI PH) 2027. The initiative offers free artificial intelligence training to Kindergarten through Grade 12 students, including those studying abroad.
To increase accessibility, the first round of the competition, running from November 16 to 22, 2026, requires no prior programming experience and can be completed using only a mobile phone. The selection process includes a national multiple-choice test and the IOAI EduSpace Round 1 assessment. Practical coding tasks are reserved for later stages.
The top four finalists will represent the Philippines at the IOAI 2027 in Singapore in July 2027. Additionally, the top four non-graduating students will compete in the Asia-Pacific Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (APOAI 2027) in Russia in April 2027. This program follows the success of the 2026 Philippine delegation, which earned one silver and three bronze medals at the competition in Kazakhstan.
