Ateneo de Davao University opens Museum Study Gallery

Ateneo de Davao University has opened the Museum Study Gallery, an 84-square-meter climate-controlled space designed to protect Mindanao’s ethnographic heritage. The gallery serves as a temporary refuge for artifacts from the Davao Museum of History and Ethnography while the university prepares to establish a permanent museum facility at its Jacinto Campus.

The facility was inaugurated on October 27 at Arrupe Hall. The opening ceremony included representatives from the Obu Manuvu, the Muslim community, and the Catholic Church, highlighting the diverse cultural and religious traditions of the region. Designed by university architecture students, the gallery aims to prevent environmental deterioration of the artifacts while functioning as an educational space for researchers, students, and visitors to study the history and cultural practices of Mindanao.
