Suspicious suitcase triggers security sweep in Athens' Monastiraki district

Police and fire services responded to a report of a suspicious suitcase in the Monastiraki area of central Athens. Authorities blocked nearby streets, including the junctions of Athinas, Voreos, Ermo and Agion Asomaton, and redirected traffic while evacuating pedestrians and vehicles. An OPKE (Special Anti-Terrorist Squad) unit and a team from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department were dispatched to examine the bag and secure the scene.
