Athens architectural renovations showcase minimalist residential design

Recent architectural renovations in Athens, Greece, showcase minimalist approaches to residential design in the Koukaki and Kolonaki districts.

In Koukaki, the Casa Menta project by Space is around us transforms a duplex apartment into a restrained Mediterranean environment. The design utilizes a continuous white architectural shell to reflect natural light, serving as a neutral backdrop for mint-green volumes and oak elements. The layout maintains the original division between shared living spaces on the entrance level and private rooms on the upper floor, using furniture and color rather than partitions to define zones.

In the Kolonaki district, Studio From completed a 500 sqft micro apartment renovation. The design features a single run of pale oak joinery that integrates the kitchen, wardrobes, workspace, storage, and bed into one continuous element. To maintain an open floor plan, privacy is provided by translucent timber-framed sliding panels instead of permanent walls. The interior combines terracotta floor tiles and marble with exposed concrete beams to balance warmth and industrial textures.
