Athens Commercial Association offers ten proposals to Greek Finance Ministry for SME support

The Athens Commercial Association met with Deputy Minister of Finance Dimitrios Markopoulos on 4 August at its offices to present a set of ten proposals aimed at improving the operating environment for micro‑ and small‑enterprise (SME) merchants. The proposals target tax relief, professional housing, financing access and operating costs.

Key measures include establishing a nine‑year professional lease (6 + 3) for reliable tenants, allowing tax debts to the Independent Authority for Public Revenue and the Central Tax Office to be repaid in 120 installments, creating a non‑seizable account for SMEs, reintegrating businesses into the new extrajudicial enforcement mechanism, revising the framework for offers and discounts, ensuring substantive financing access, abolishing the professional tax and advance tax payments, exempting individual retail businesses from deemed taxation, and introducing steps to lower operating expenses. Deputy Minister Markopoulos said the ministry would examine the feasibility of the proposals and keep an open channel of communication with the association.
