Athens hosts 6th Run Bike Care charity race, traffic closed on main streets

Thousands of cyclists and runners took part in the 6th Run Bike Care event in Athens, organized by the Association of Cancer Patients – Volunteers – Friends – Doctors of Athens. The race began at Syntagma Square and ran past Filelli, B. A. Olgas, B. A. Koni, B. A. Sofia, the Academy, Sina and the University before finishing at Syntagma Square again, under the slogan “We run faster than cancer.”

To accommodate the race, the city imposed traffic restrictions from 08:00 to 12:00 on 6 June. Roads closed or restricted included the entire length of Filelli Avenue, B. A. Olgas, B. A. Sofia, B. A. Koni, the University (El. Venizelou) segment, the Academy stretch, and several intersecting streets. Drivers were urged to avoid the affected routes and follow police guidance.

The event coincided with the World Cancer Survivors Day, aiming to raise awareness and support for cancer patients.
