Athens hosts EPP Women Autumn Academy on political empowerment

Athens is hosting the EPP Women Autumn Academy from September 17 to 19, focusing on increasing female participation in politics and the economy. The initiative, proposed by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and organized by MP Maria Syrengela, serves as a platform for the center-right European bloc to discuss gender equality as a driver for economic growth and a response to European challenges.

The event features high-level participation from the European People's Party (EPP), including Mairéad McGuinness, President of EPP Women and former European Commissioner, as well as messages from EPP President Manfred Weber and Secretary General Dolors Montserrat.

Discussions include thematic sessions such as ‘A Prosperous Europe: Leveraging the Power of Women & the Greek Approach,’ featuring Greek Deputy Ministers Anna Efthymiou and Elena Rapti, alongside EPP Women Vice President Sari Rautio. The academy aims to connect European gender equality agendas with national strategic interests.
