Athens implements urban mobility plan via Social Climate Fund
The ATHENS MOVE initiative is set to enhance urban mobility in Athens through a series of strategic investments. The plan includes the introduction of four new municipal lines, 17 electric buses, and an allocation of 11.75 million euros to improve neighborhood connectivity.
These efforts are part of a broader 1.46 billion euro transportation investment program funded via the Social Climate Fund. The Greek Social Climate Plan aims to utilize 4.77 billion euros in European and national resources by 2032, with a specific focus on reducing travel costs and barriers for vulnerable households and small businesses. The funding also covers charging infrastructure, depots, accessible stops, and digital services to ensure seamless transitions between different modes of transport.
