Athens Job Center marks one year with 138 successful placements

The Municipality of Athens has marked one year of operation for its Job Center, a specialized structure designed to provide labor counseling and connect individuals with the labor market. Implemented by Athens Development, the center targets people facing social, economic, or other barriers to employment.

During its first year, the center supported 503 individuals, with 138 successfully finding employment, representing a 31% integration rate among active job seekers. Additionally, 62 people received specialized legal or accounting counseling. The program offers a holistic approach, including skill development, digital tool training, and connections with businesses and social organizations.

Mayor Haris Doukas stated that the center serves as an essential tool to connect social policy with employment, aiming to ensure no one in Athens is left on the margins. The center assists diverse groups, including the homeless, refugees, migrants, long-term unemployed, and individuals facing domestic violence or mental health challenges.
