Athens Leads Europe’s 50 Best Bars with Two Top Spots

The latest edition of Europe’s 50 Best Bars ranks Greece as the highest‑scoring country, with six Greek venues in the top 50. Athens dominates the list, claiming both the #1 and #2 positions. The top bar, **Line**, operates out of a former art gallery in the Kato Petralona neighbourhood and combines a restaurant, brewery, cellar, café and cocktail bar under one roof, emphasizing fermentation, sustainability and on‑site production of fruit‑based fermented drinks. The runner‑up, **The Bar in Front of the Bar**, opened in 2021 and serves cocktails through a street‑level window, sourcing ingredients from local farms and surplus supplies. Other Greek entries include Barro Negro, Baba au Rum, The Clumsies and Gorilla. While London still has the most bars overall in the ranking, Greece’s performance marks a historic high for the country’s cocktail scene. The list was compiled from votes by over 300 beverage‑industry experts and announced at a ceremony in Amsterdam.
