Authorities are intensifying their investigation into the death of singer Giorgos Mazonakis at a clinic in Kolonaki. Two doctors, Ioanna Gaka and Elias Theodoropoulos, are currently held in custody at Korydallos Prison facing charges of manslaughter.

A central piece of evidence is a deleted message from a clinic employee to a relative, which allegedly stated, “Leave it, she... gave him methi (sedation).” While a clinic secretary confirmed hearing the word “anesthesia” or “methi” during a period of tension in the hallway, she could not confirm if it was actually administered to Mazonakis.

The Medical Association of Athens (ISA) clarified that while no official complaints had been filed regarding the clinic's operation since 2013, they had acted on informal information received in July 2025 by ordering unannounced inspections. Investigators are also scrutinizing the role of sleep therapist Naso Komianos and examining financial records, including an invoice for a 29,509.98 euro filtration device.

Further testimony is expected from Komianos, who is scheduled to appear before an investigator to clarify his relationship with the doctors and why he received a photograph of the singer during the medical procedure.
