Athens Metro Line 3 stations close early June 15‑18 for upgrade work
From Monday 15 June until Thursday 18 June, five stations on Athens Metro Line 3 – Panormou, Katechaki, Ethniki Amyna, Holargos and Nomismatokopeio – will close each night at 21:40, about two‑and‑a‑half hours earlier than normal. The closures apply Sunday through Thursday while night‑time track‑replacement work is carried out on the Panormou‑Nomismatokopeio section.
During the works the line will operate in two separate segments: Demotiko Theatro – Ampelokipoi and Agia Paraskevi – Doukissis Plakentias – Airport. The last trains before the early shutdown are scheduled between 20:55 and 21:36, depending on the direction. Service to and from the airport is also altered, with several trains terminating early at Agia Paraskevi.
To mitigate passenger disruption OASA will run a temporary bus service, route X20, linking Ampelokipoi and Chalandri and stopping at all intermediate stations affected by the closures. Authorities stress that the measures are necessary to replace worn tracks, improve safety and increase reliability of the network following earlier work on Line 2.
