Athens Metro Line 3 to close four stations early for track‑replacement works

From Sunday 28 June, STASY begins a track‑replacement project on Athens Metro Line 3. The work shortens service on the line, with the stations Μεγάρο Μουσικής, Αμπελόκηποι, Πανόρμου and Κατεχάκη closing at 21:40 each night from Sunday through Thursday.

During the construction period trains operate only on two sections: Δημοτικό Θέατρο – Ευαγγελισμός and Εθνική Άμυνα – Δουκίσσης Πλακεντίας – Αεροδρόμιο. The last trains before the early closure depart at 21:05‑21:47 for the former section and at 21:30‑23:34 for services to and from the airport, after which airport‑bound trains run only between Εθνική Άμυνα and Αεροδρόμιο.

To mitigate the inconvenience, OASA runs a temporary bus line X21 (Στ. Μετρό Ευαγγελισμός – Στ. Μετρό Εθνική Άμυνα) covering the closed stretch, stopping at the affected stations. STASY said, “We understand the disruption, but the measures are necessary to complete the important works that will improve daily travel.”
