Athens municipality clears 240 illegal chairs and tables from public spaces
From 23 June to 28 July, the municipal police of Athens carried out 13 operational actions across central points, passages and commercial streets in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd municipal communities. The operations removed more than 240 objects that blocked free and safe movement for pedestrians and people with disabilities, including 155 chairs, 55 tables, four sofas, steps, awnings and various display equipment.
Deputy Mayor for Municipal Police and Public Spaces Eleni Zontirou said the free use of public space is a “fixed priority” and that the interventions will continue with “unwavering intensity” to restore legality and protect citizens’ right to move freely.
