Athens Municipality funds independent experts to assess Kypseli building cracks

The municipality of Athens announced it will cover the fees of two independent experts—a metallurgical engineer and a civil engineer—chosen by residents of the Kypseli neighbourhood. The experts will evaluate cracks and other damage to buildings that appeared during construction of a new Metro line.

Mayor Haris Doukas said the measure follows a recent meeting with local representatives, and psychological support services are also being offered through the municipal health centre. The issue will be revisited at the City Council session on 29 July, where officials from the Ministry and Hellenic Metro are expected to attend.
