Athens police arrest man for armed robbery and multiple thefts

Police in Athens have arrested a 33-year-old man accused of a series of thefts and an armed robbery in Palaio Faliro. During the robbery, the suspect allegedly threatened a gas station employee with a pistol, stole cash and a mobile phone, and locked the employee inside the premises before fleeing.

Investigations revealed the suspect was involved in multiple crimes since May, including the theft of vehicles from outdoor parking lots in central Athens and the theft of four vehicles from the Ampelokipoi area in August. He is also accused of stealing a safe containing over 20,000 euros from a shop in historic Athens.

Upon searching his residence, authorities seized a pistol, 93 cartridges, a telescopic baton, a folding knife, numerous vehicle keys, and clothing used during the crimes. The suspect attempted to flee on foot during the arrest but was apprehended and taken into custody.
