Athens priest stops young couple having sex in chapel
On Saturday night a 58‑year‑old priest who serves as the caretaker of a chapel in central Athens discovered a 20‑year‑old man and a 19‑year‑old woman engaged in sexual activity inside the open‑access shrine. The priest shouted in surprise, which startled the pair and caused them to stop.
He escorted them to his office, offered them water, explained that sexual desire at their age is normal but that the sacred space must be respected, and then gave the young man €100, advising him to go to a hotel while remembering the priest’s counsel. No police were called and the incident remained a local matter.
