The Athens Appeals Prosecutor has filed an appeal against the acquittal of two fishermen accused in the death of former PASOK minister Sifis Valyrakis. The incident occurred in the waters of Eretria on January 24, 2021.

The original decision was rendered by the Athens Mixed Jury Court, which acquitted the two defendants with a 6-1 vote. Following requests from lawyers supporting the prosecution and after reviewing the case files, the prosecutor moved to challenge the initial ruling.
