Athens public transport implements summer schedules
Athens public transport operators have implemented summer schedules for metro, tram, bus, and trolley services, which will remain in effect until early September. Due to reduced passenger traffic during the summer period, many lines will operate with less frequent service.
STASY has adjusted frequencies for fixed-track transit. On Metro Line 1 (ISAP), trains run every 7 to 7.5 minutes on weekdays. Metro Line 2 operates every 4.5 minutes during peak hours (07:00 to 19:00) and every 5 to 7 minutes during off-peak hours. Metro Line 3 runs every 4.5 minutes during morning peak hours, with intervals of 5.5 to 8 minutes for the rest of the day. Tram services run approximately every 12 minutes until 22:00.
OASA is implementing a summer plan for buses and trolleys. While many routes see reduced frequency, services are being reinforced for high-traffic tourist areas, including Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, the Port of Piraeus, and the coastal zone. Normal winter schedules are expected to return during the first ten days of September.
