Athens ranked 4th happiest global holiday destination

Athens has been ranked as the 4th happiest city in the world for holidays according to a new list by Time Out. The ranking is based on the Holiday Happiness Index developed by BookRetreats.com in collaboration with Harvard clinical psychologist Dr. Natalie Dattilo-Ryan.

The study evaluated 47 global destinations based on five key wellness factors: sunshine, sleep quality, access to healthy food, time spent in nature, and walkability. Athens notably secured the top position in the walkability category among all destinations surveyed.

Other high-performing factors for Athens included its Mediterranean climate, access to natural landscapes and beaches, and a high density of restaurants offering healthy dining options. Lisbon, Portugal, took the first place globally, followed by Helsinki, Finland (2nd), Orlando, USA (3rd), and Edinburgh, Scotland (5th).
