Athens centers streets closed for Run Bike Care 6th cycling race

On Sunday 6 June 2026 (some reports list 7 June), the Greek traffic police imposed temporary road closures in central Athens from 08:00 to 12:00 to accommodate the 6th Run Bike Care cycling event. The race, organised by the Athens Cancer Patients‑Volunteers‑Friends‑Doctors Association in honour of World Cancer Survivors Day, follows a 10‑km loop that starts and finishes at Syntagma Square and passes through Filhellinon, Vasilissis Amalias, Vasilissis Olgas, Vasilissis Konstantinos, Vasilissis Sophia, the Academy, Sina and the University area.

The imposed traffic measures block the full length of streets such as Stadiou, Filhellinon, Vasilissis Olgas, Vasilissis Amalias, Vasilissis Sophia and several side‑streets, prohibit vertical vehicle crossings at the Vasilissis Sophia‑Rigillis and Vasilissis Konstantinos‑G. Georgiou B junctions, and advise drivers to avoid the listed avenues to minimise congestion during the event.
