Global markets rally as Nasdaq and S&P 500 hit record highs
Global stock markets experienced significant movement as technology-driven rallies in the United States coincided with cautious gains in Europe. In the US, the Nasdaq and S&P 500 reached new historical highs, fueled largely by interest in artificial intelligence and semiconductor companies. Nvidia reached a new record high, while AMD announced plans to increase chip production by 2027. Constellation Energy also saw substantial gains following an energy supply agreement with Google.
European markets, including the DAX, CAC 40, and FTSE 100, also trended upward as bond yields retreated, improving the investment climate. However, uncertainty remains regarding energy prices and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. European Central Bank officials noted that while energy shocks have not yet caused widespread secondary inflationary effects, the situation requires vigilance.
In Greece, the Athens Stock Exchange showed signs of recovery following previous declines. The company Allwyn saw notable gains, influenced by political developments in Brazil regarding the gambling sector. Meanwhile, investors globally are monitoring US labor market data and Federal Reserve policy expectations as the third-quarter corporate earnings season approaches.
