Athens sees sold‑out summer concerts as AFTER festival wraps up

The AFTER program, a late‑night music series at the Peiraios 260 venue, concluded on 27 July with a large traditional celebration organized by saxophonist and composer Dimitris Tsakas and Iro Nikolaou. Over two months the series blended jazz, rock, electronic music, DJ sets and Greek folk traditions, turning the garden and square of Peiraios 260 into a post‑theatre gathering place for audiences.

During the same summer, Athens experienced a concert frenzy from May through July, with major international acts such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, Patti Smith, Lykke Li and Jean‑Michel Jarre performing to sold‑out crowds. Venues from the Platia Neru to the Technopolis filled with thousands of spectators, highlighting the city’s growing reputation as a hub for live music after the pandemic.
