Athens imposes extensive road closures for SNF Nostos Run 2026

On Tuesday 23 June 2026 the Greek police and traffic authority will enforce temporary traffic restrictions in central Athens and the neighboring municipality of Kallithea to accommodate the SNF Nostos Run, a Special Olympics road race featuring 10 km, 6 km and 1 km distances. Vehicle movement will be halted from 20:30 until the event ends, while parking is prohibited from 06:00 until the finish. Major thoroughfares closed to two‑way traffic include Vasilissis Konstantou, Vasilissis Sofias (Zacharo‑Amalias segment), Arditou, Anapauseos, M. Moussouro, Rizari, Kokkali, Papadiamantopoulou, Eratosthenous, Ilioupoleos, Kareas, Vasilissis Alexandrou, Constitution Square, Vasilissis Amalias and large sections of Syngrou (with a parking ban on Syngrou between 19:00‑23:00). Public‑transport routes are altered: tram line 6 will terminate at Λ. Vouliagmeni, bus line 230 is suspended, and numerous bus, trolley‑bus and tram lines are rerouted or have limited service. Drivers are urged to follow traffic‑controller directions, avoid the affected corridors and use alternative routes or public transport.
