Ather Energy launches Konarc mass-market electric scooter

Ather Energy has launched the Konarc, its first mass-market electric scooter built on the new EL platform, with prices starting at ₹99,999. The Konarc aims to transition the brand from a premium niche to the mainstream family segment, offering various range options between 100 km and 200 km across S and Z product lines.

Alongside the vehicle, Ather introduced several ecosystem services, including fifth-generation Bedrock batteries with a 10-year or 100,000 km warranty, AtherNode for apartment charging management, and Ather True Health for vehicle diagnostics. The company also offers a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription model to lower upfront costs.

The launch has coincided with significant market activity, including Hero MotoCorp increasing its stake in Ather to 32.8% following a ₹1,758 crore transaction. While demand is surging—with monthly inquiries exceeding seven lakh in the June quarter—Ather is facing production challenges. Current monthly demand is estimated at over 50,000 units, while existing manufacturing capacity at the Hosur facility is approximately 35,000 units per month, leading to waiting periods of up to four months in some regions.
