Živa Remic wins gold at World Athletics U20 Championships
16-year-old Slovenian athlete Živa Remic won the gold medal in the 800-meter run at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, USA, with a time of 2:03.03. This victory marks her as the first Slovenian to become a junior world champion in athletics.
Remic, who trains with Olimpija Ljubljana under coach Gregor Grad, previously won gold at the European U18 Championships in Rieti. In the men's competition, Benjamin Lakošeljac finished fourth in the 800 meters.
Separately, 17-year-old Anna Švrček, a Japanese-born athlete of Slovak and Bulgarian descent, has gained significant attention for her performances in steeplechase. Representing Slovakia, Švrček has broken national records and competed in the U20 World Championships, finishing ninth in the 3000m steeplechase.
