Athlete Recovery Therapies: Sports Massage and Hyperbaric Oxygen

Sports massage is widely used in Australia and elsewhere to relieve muscle soreness and improve blood flow, but it only addresses symptoms. Without integrating physiotherapy to correct underlying movement patterns and strength deficits, the same issues often return.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) raises the amount of oxygen delivered to tissues, supporting the body’s natural healing processes after intense exercise. It is promoted as a supplemental recovery tool for athletes and active individuals, but it does not replace proper nutrition, sleep, or training adjustments.

Both approaches are presented as components of a broader, active recovery plan rather than standalone solutions.
